Donkey Kong – Restoration

I had been hunting for one for a while. They rarely come up for sale in the north east.

It looks better than it actually is.. Surprisingly the game runs. The monitor barely worked.

Triage:

  • Monitor needs to be rebuilt
  • T-molding smashed up
  • Speaker grill smashed under the cover
  • Side art missing
  • All decals messed up
  • Some wiring hacks inside
  • Cabinet has framing nails all over
  • Needs a new restrictor plate
  • Bottom framing was close to collapse
  • Coin mech missing
  • Coin door really bent up
  • Wrong speaker

The inside was pretty typical for an old cabinet. Dusty and needs a power cord. At some point Mikes Arcade had worked on the boards, it had a work order that came with it. Game runs.

The original speaker grill is smashed up. Framing nails everywhere that ruined the sides and the front parts of the cab. I did get some cash back on it however!

Something I really do not like – smashed up coin doors. You won’t be able to tell it’s been restored when I get done with it. It’s getting a second coin mech too..

I forgot the get a pic of the game running on the monitor.. But this is where it started..
